Avoid a traditional orthodontist by visiting Athens area dentist who offers Invisalign
A straight smile is a beautiful smile. It is also a smile that can function properly without the problems associated with poor bite alignment such as cross bite, overbite, and under bite. However, many patients are turned off at the thought of visiting an orthodontist for traditional braces. Metal bracket and wire braces are seen as more of an inconvenience. Adult patients are especially interested in alternative options, as they have to face clients on a day-to-day basis and don't want to feel that they look like a teenager. This is when Dr. Anita Mathew of Athens TLC Dental may suggest another way: Invisalign.
Over a decade ago, one of the only ways to really straighten the smile was with the use of metal brackets and wires.
This was done to straighten teeth for alignment of the dental arch as well as the bite. However, times have changed and thanks to continued advances in dentistry, patients can now enjoy straightening their smile with Invisalign – a more discreet method of achieving the same results as traditional braces.
Invisalign works by using aligner trays that are custom-made for patients. An entire series is developed using digitized impressions of the smile and determining how the teeth should be moved for optimum results. This is all done with today's amazing technology and software. Patients have their impressions completed, which are sent to Invisalign laboratories for the fabrication of their trays. Patients return when the trays have arrived at the dental office and are educated on how to use them. Each tray is worn for two weeks before patients switch to the next one. Throughout the process, the teeth gradually reposition themselves into better alignment. By the end of treatment, with proper compliance, patients will love their results!
